I want to make a difference!

I have always personally been a strong believer that you should always treat others with kindness and respect. My parents taught me that no matter what kind of day you are having, someone else’s day is always worse. I wish that I would have known about the mirror messages campaign when I was in high school.

I remember high school being a time where everyone was so mean to each other for no apparent reason. It’s as if someone always had to be better than the other person, a constant competition. I’ll admit it, I myself am guilty. I used to compare myself to my friends, and listen to them compare to other people. Looking back now, I realize how low our self-esteems were and how ridiculous the things we compared in each other were.

Everyone is different and we need to learn to love each other and ourselves rather than spread hate. The purpose of this campaign is to filter out that negativity happening in schools and bring back positivity, starting with the students. When you start with the students, it gives everybody the chance to feel the impact they are making. What I love most about this campaign is that you get the opportunity to make a large impact just by doing something so small. It’s not expensive, it’s not a huge amount of time. It’s just a matter of going out there and doing it for your school and community.

Project Reflection

Hi! Thanks for tuning in for my final blog post of the semester. If you scroll down and visit my blog, you will notice a lot of different content was created. This was created for a course I’m taking through Washington State University, called Multimedia Content Creation. I chose to create content based on my dream of owning a wedding venue.

For this final post, we had the chance to go back and revisit a project and fine-tune it. I chose to revisit the very first project, creating a design piece using Photoshop. I wasn’t very happy with it this one. So, here’s the new and improved version that I came up with. I decided to go away with the social media post that I originally had and create more of a magazine ad. There are a TON of wedding magazines out there and I wanted to do something in a similar style. This way I could use in a variety of ways (social media, flyers, websites, etc.). The one thing that I didn’t like about the original was that there wasn’t a call to action, and there wasn’t anything drawing the audience in.

So, for this one in particular, I changed it up. I found three (new) photos that shared similarity and I used the logo created in Unit 2. I then used the rectangle tool to create a ‘stroke’ look to act as a border to tie it in. Lastly, I added social media icons, a description and a call to action. Based on my audience (bride and groom, friends or family of a bride or groom) I communicated things that I thought would be of importance to them. This description and call to action was important to me as it wasn’t included in the original version.

Wedding Fever

Wedding Fever

Here it is. Here goes nothing. I’ve been waiting to share this idea with the world, but my COM 561 class is close enough. Unveiled with Love, you’re probably wondering, what does that even mean? Well, like most, when I was a little girl I had always dreamt about my wedding day. Now my wedding day is over, and I’m still dreaming about weddings. Some of you might be rolling your eyes, or calling me crazy, but I’ve worked for even the craziest of brides, and I still love it.

It’s something about that feeling you get when there is so much love in the air. I can’t help it. For a couple of years now, I’ve had this (crazy) dream of owning and operating my own wedding venue. I want to offer all of the services under one roof. I don’t want brides to have to worry about coordinating all of these different vendors, there should only be one. A one-stop-shop for your wedding needs. That’s the dream, and I think it fits really well with this course because now I can get the chance to make this dream a reality.

Bringing it back to the beginning, you’re probably wondering why “Veiled with Love”? Well, the bride is Veiled prior to becoming a wife, and she is going to be showered with love on her wedding day. It’s corky, cute and I just simply love it. Check out my About section to learn a little bit more about my goofy self and the story of how I got where I am today. I’m looking forward to learning alongside each and everyone of you! Thanks for stopping by.
